When we talk about long fiber reinforced thermoplastics (L.F.R.T.), international chemical manufacturers like BASF, Ticona and Toray are the first company names that come to our mind. In Taiwan, GRECO is the pioneer company that produces L.F.R.T. There are two reasons why it is difficult to manufacture such material in Taiwan: its high technical requirements and high equipment threshold. GRECO spent NTD 200 million dollars on German-made equipment just to produce L.F.R.T. in its Dafa factory in Kaohsiung.
Unlike those 1-2 mm short fiber that we normally see on the market, GRECO brings its 12-15 mm L.F.R.T. to 2017 PLASCOM. GRECO’s L.F.R.T. has the toughness of the thermoplastic resins and the high intensity of the long glass fibers. It also has excellent durability and size stability. GRECO’s L.F.R.T. can be applied to injection molding and extrusion molding. In addition, GRECO’s L.F.R.T. has competitive price advantage over carbon fiber, costing only 20% of it.
The inclusive characteristics of GRECO’s L.F.R.T. break the idea that one can only choose between lightweight plastic or rigid metal, helping customers achieve the goals of weight reduction and cost reduction by replacing metal with plastic.
