To talk about TUNG YU, the industry is more than familiar of their high quality rubber processing machinery. But in the past 10 years, they have set new directions and built not only the machinery for rubber processing. Now at TUNG YU, their services have been expanded to include all machinery related to heat and pressure in the process. “This is how TUNG YU has been transforming in the past 10 year, which is to serve clients with our capability on providing total solutions” shared by Frank Cheng, the Sales & Marketing Manager of TUNG YU.
Composite materials with high potentialThe composite materials are highly flexible in fitting to different applications. It can be made into materials with delivering strong rigidity, light weight, and can even replace a part of metal materials. Frank pointed out that the composite materials are now being widely applied to cycling, automotives, aerospace, medical, and many other industries, which is what TUNG YU wishes to discover more resources and information at the PLASCOM TAIWAN show. In the past 10 years, TUNG YU has expanded its services range and support on composite manufacturing such as car rims and cycling frames. For instance, TUNG YU machinery is capable to manufacture for the high-end carbon fiber cycling frame for MERIDA and GIANT.

To understand more about the composite manufacturing and retrieve the most up-to-date information in the industry, TING YU has been actively participating at the composite-related exhibition around the world; such as for the JEC World being held in March this year in 2017, it has already been the third time for TUNG YU’s participation. By joining at exhibitions, there are exhibits made of different materials like glass fiber, carbon fiber, resin, and other materials, and it provides TUNG YU a great platform to research for their new directions on development. There are 3 targets that TUNG YU always focuses at for joining the exhibition: checking the current market demand, updating on other competitors’ new progress, and cultivating new partnership. When PLASCOM TAIWAN show is coming near in September, TUNG YU is also excited to look for some new things in this new show.
The PLASCOM TAIWAN 2017 show highlights on “SUPER VALUE & TOTAL SOLUTIONS”, which is a popular but quite abstract term in calling upon the new trend of plastics, rubber, and composite industry. With years of experiences in the industry and shows, Frank shared that this is actually co-related to the terms that were already brought up since 2012 when the industry started talking about the environmental-friendly development from energy consumption reducetion to green and automated production. Now, this “SUPER VALUE & TOTAL SOLUTIONS” includes them all.
In 2012, TUNG YU presented their new energy-saving model of rubber injection molding machine and installed with servo motors. On this new model it successfully solved the two major issues on energy saving, the transferring rate of heat and pressure. To transfer all heat generated in the process, TUNG YU gave up using the market sold insulation board that are unable to retain all the heat. Instead, they worked with the incubation center and self-developed an insulation board that could perform even better than the German-made board. Additionally, this self-developed insulation board by TUNG YU was also applicable for high pressure usage. And for saving the energy cost, TUNG YU replaced the mechanical motor with servo motor to reduce power required for the process. This new energy saving model delivered great performances received the most innovative award of 2012 in Taiwan plastics and rubber industry.
To mention the total solution concepts, it is related to the circular economy trend in the industry. Back in times before, Frank pointed that most rubber machinery were using hydraulic models. The hydraulic oil was not reusable and customers had to continuously purchase new oil for replace, and not even mentioning the pollution risk with these used-oil. In 2014, TUNG YU came up with solutions and built an all-electric rubber injection molding model.
In 2016, TUNG YU had made one step further and launched their first-ever “iTungYu” integrated management system. While the Industry 4.0 trend has been gradually embraced among the manufacturing industries, the iTungYu system has marked another great example for TUNG YU toward becoming total solutions provider.
In the past decade, the limitation on raw materials amount has led to their prices increase, which has also become bigger pressure for manufacturers to spend on this necessity cost. The iTungYu system was designed to solve this problem by incorporating all TUNG YU automated machinery. It allowed a non-stop production to build up more production amount with good quality products in a shorter time and helped customers remain competitive on their services. TUNG YU also participated in customers manufacture and helped manage their process data, build machines connection, and establish production real-time monitoring. The most critical element in Industry 4.0 production surrounds upon pre-alerting function. “It’s similar to cars that are now all equipped with early warning systems that will alert drivers. The pre-alerting function on iTungYu will help get the problems fixed before anything serious happened and result in machine downtime” said by Frank Cheng.
TUNG YU has been manufacturing machinery for over 35 year and their products continue to evolve to fit for newer generation of manufacturing. With increasingly better technology and precision seen on TUNG YU’s machines, they had made decision to challenge the higher tier of services 10 years ago. When there are more and more manufacturers entering the standardized products market, TUNG YU has changed focus and devoted in customized products. In recent years, TUNG YU also expanded its services to building machinery for composite materials processing, the materials with growing popularity especially in medical and electronics industries. For instance, TUNG YU has been working on supplying machines for producing syringes for several years. Recently, TUNG YU even developed a liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding machine and further expanded on their service range. In electronics, TUNG YU’s machinery is capable in manufacturing electric components for smart electronic devices. When the industry continues to evolve, Frank believes that rubber and composite materials production will no longer be perceived as a highly polluting industry but another new star for industry development in the future.
